Straight answer

How do I get my business to show up on Google Maps?

Maps results come from Google Business Profiles. Create and verify a profile under your real business name, with your address or service area, fill in every field, and ask every customer for an honest review. Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and prominence, and that there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking.

The profile is free and you can do all of it yourself. Our $750 Search Visibility setup reviews how search engines reach your website and writes a priority plan. Local search work can be part of an agreed monthly scope when it fits your business. We cannot promise a ranking or a spot on the map.

What Google says decides who shows up

Google's own Business Profile help page names three factors. These are its words, summarized.

  1. Relevance. How well your profile matches what someone is searching for. Complete, detailed business information helps Google match you to the right searches.

  2. Distance. How far your business is from the person searching. If they do not share where they are, Google uses what it knows about their location.

  3. Prominence. How well known your business is. Google says this is based on things like how many websites link to your business and how many reviews you have, and that more reviews and positive ratings can help your local ranking.

Google also says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. Anyone who sells you a guaranteed Maps spot is selling something Google says it does not sell.

How to set up your profile, step by step

Create and verify it for free at business.google.com.

  1. Search Google Maps for your exact business name first. If a profile already appears and offers to let you claim it, claim it instead of making a second one.

  2. Go to business.google.com and sign in with a Google account you will keep, ideally one the business owns, not a personal one you may lose.

  3. Enter your real business name, the name customers already know you by, with no extra keywords added.

  4. Pick the most specific category for what your business is, and add others only if they also describe the whole business, not each service.

  5. Add your address if customers visit you there during business hours. If you only travel to customers, set your service area and hide your address, as Google requires for service-area businesses.

  6. Add your phone number, hours and website, and make them match your website exactly.

  7. Complete Google verification. The method Google offers depends on the business, and Google says customers can only find a new profile after it is verified.

After that, add a description, your services and real photos of your work, and keep the hours current, including holidays.

Reviews: ask every customer, the same way

Reviews are part of prominence, so they matter. Ask every customer, not only the happy ones, right after the work is done, and send your direct review link so it takes them one tap. Do not offer a discount or gift in return for a review, because Google prohibits it.

What changes the answer

  1. How busy your area is. A plumber in a small town and a plumber in a big city are not competing in the same crowd.

  2. How complete and consistent your details are. A name, address and phone number that match across your profile and website are easier for Google to trust.

  3. How many real reviews you have. This builds slowly, one customer at a time, and nobody can promise a date.

  4. Whether your website says the same things. If your site does not clearly state what you do and where, your profile has less to back it up.

What our setup includes, and what it does not

  • The $750 setup covers one website, a review of search access and indexability, a baseline of current pages and relevant search queries when data is available, and a written priority plan with the first month of page work agreed before it begins.
  • The plan identifies the service or market focus and the client approvals needed.
  • A new website, large content library, link-buying, paid ads, multi-site work, unlimited page creation, specialist-regulated copy, third-party software and approved outside costs are separate.
  • Search engines and AI services decide what they show.
  • We do not promise indexing by a date, rankings, AI recommendations, traffic, inquiries or sales.
  • This is a defined delivery promise, not a guarantee of leads, bookings, sales, rankings or AI recommendations.

When you do not need us
